Has my child been referred to Teen Court?
Every juvenile arrest varies. Teen Court only takes FIRST offenses that are MISDEAMENORS. With that being said, some cases are still sent to Family Court instead of Teen Court due to other factors such as previous arrests, previous law enforcement involvment, or just a mix up in paperwork! It is best to contact the police department that issued the arrest. Some arrests take 30-120 days to process before being sent to Teen Court.
Has my child completed his/her requirements?
If you would like to know the status of your child’s Teen Court requirements give us a call! 969-7838 We will be happy to let you know what he/she has completed and what they still need to turn in. If it is past the deadline we recommend YOUR CHILD call us and explain his/her reasons as to why they have not completed the requirements. In some circumstances we are able to give extensions. However, in the majority of cases, if requirements are incomplete the file goes back to Family Court.
